This was a critical game for fighting for a second GM norm! I just lost badly with white against Stocek... And my last chance is to win the last two games! But I was so sad and felt that the mission is impossible since I have to play with black against a solid GM ,expert in theory! that almost never lost with white since many years... 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.d5 b5 4.cxb5 a6 5.e3 axb5 6.Bxb5 Bb7 7.Nc3 Qa5 8.Nge2 Nxd5 9.0-0 Nxc3 10.Nxc3 Nc6N and this is the move!!! So natural but never played before!!! incredible! All the idea is that if White plays the normal plan e4 I can play Nd4! A big surprise to my opponent that started to spent more and more time... 11.a4N [RR after 3 years anothr Hungarian GM named Farago played against me the same line but as he confess after the game he was anylising for 3 hours together with GM Sax and still was not sure of refutation! 11.e4 Nd4 RR 12.Bc4 (12.a4 g6 13.b4 Qxb4 14.Qd3 Qa5 15.Rb1 Bc6 16.Bxc6 dxc6 17.Bd2 Bg7 18.Nd5 Qa7 19.Nb6 Rb8 20.a5 0-0 21.Qc4 Ne6 22.Bc3 Bd4 23.Kh1 Rfd8 24.f4 1/2-1/2 Gerard,N-Lazarev,V/Sautron 2001/EXT 2003 (24)) 12...g6! surprising for him! 13.Nd5 Bg7 14.b4!? (14.Bf4 Rc8~~ ) 14...cxb4 15.Bb2 Nf3+! 16.Qxf3 Bxb2 17.Rab1 Bd4? I was in the discotek till very late the night before...and in this game it was evident that I didn't sleep enough:-) Oh...the young,wild days... (17...Be5!~~ ) 18.Rfd1+/- (18.Rxb4 Bc6 19.Rfb1+/- ) 18...Qc5 (18...Be5 19.Nxe7! ) 19.Rbc1? (19.Nc7+! Qxc7 20.Qxf7+ Kd8 21.Rxd4+- ) 19...e6! 20.Nf6+ Bxf6 21.Qxf6 0-0~~ 22.Rxd7? maybe White was also in disco last night?? (22.Bb3 Qb5 23.Rd4© ) 22...Ba6|^ 23.h4! Rac8?? oh what did I drink last night?? (23...Bxc4 24.h5 Qxh5! 25.Rxc4 Qe2 26.Rcc7 Qxa2 27.e5 Qb1+=/+ ) 24.Bxe6!! what a surprise!! now no more defence for me! 24...Qxc1+ 25.Kh2 Qc7+ 26.Rxc7 Rxc7 27.Bd5+- Be2 28.h5 Bxh5 29.g4 Bxg4 30.Qf4 Rc2 31.Qxg4 Rxf2+ 32.Kg3 Rf6 33.Qg5 Rb6 34.Qe7 h6 35.Bxf7+ 1-0 Farago,I-Kogan,A/Bolzano 1999/EXT 2000 (35)] 11...e6 12.e4 Be7 [12...Nd4 ] 13.Bf4 Qb4! the position is very unstable! exactly what I wanted! since my opponent was satisfied with a draw...and he likes solid positions...this was surely not his type of position! Anyway it was still dangerous for me...so I have to take care! 14.Bd2 Rd8!? maybe not the best...but leting my opponent a good reason to spent more time...:-) [My opponent already spent a lot of time till this moment...so I was trying to surprise him every move...but still with good ideas...:-) 14...Qd4 15.a5!? ; 14...0-0? 15.Nd5+- ; 14...Ne5!? ] 15.a5! [15.Nd5 Qxe4 16.Nc7+ Kf8-/+ ] 15...Qd4 16.a6 Ba8 17.Qe2 [17.Bf4 was better giving white the advantage] 17...0-0 finally! now I felt better! 18.Be3 Qe5 19.f4 Qc7 finsihing a big round with my Queen! Now I felt that I have a real chance to win the game...big advantage in time...and finally I have a clear plan! 20.Rfc1 d5! 21.Na4 d4 22.Bd2 d3! and here I come! 23.Qe3?(+) [23.Bxd3! still unclear but better was 23...Qd7 (23...Nd4 24.Qd1 e5© 25.f5? Nxf5! ) 24.Nxc5 Bxc5+ 25.Rxc5 Qxd3 26.Qxd3 Rxd3 27.Bc3 Rb8 28.Kf2© ] 23...Nd4!-/+ 24.Bxd3 [24.Qxd3 Nxb5 25.Qxb5 Rxd2-+ ] 24...Nb3 25.Bc3 Nxc1 26.Rxc1 Qd7! 27.Bc2 Qb5! here is the Harmony! Now I have a quality up...just I need to demonstrate a good techniqe...and not to fall a sleep! :-) 28.b3 f6! 29.Ra1 Rd7?! GM Lucaks was so short of time,that I also started to play too quick...not always a good idea! [much better was 29...Qxa6! since 30.Nxc5? Bxc5 31.Qxc5 Qe2!-+ 32.Qf2 Qxf2+ 33.Kxf2 Rc8-+ ] 30.Nb2!© Ra7 31.Ra5 Qc6 32.Bd3 f5! 33.Qg3? [missing the last chance to stay in the game with 33.Na4! fxe4 34.Bc4<=> ] 33...Bd8! surely missed by white! 34.Ra4 Qb6!-/+ [34...fxe4 35.Bxe4 ] 35.Qe3 fxe4 36.Bf1 [36.Bc4 Bd5! ] 36...Qxb3-+ 37.Bc4 Qb6 38.Ra5 Bd5! 39.h3?(+) [39.Ra1 ] 39...Bxc4 40.Nxc4 Qb1+ 41.Kh2 Bxa5 and here it was! I did the first step for the norm... Than my last critical game was against the young and talented Hungarin A. Horvath (now GM already!) That also needed a win for the norm,and was unbeaten till this moment!! Both had 7 from 10...but luckily I won this game convincingly and made my second GM norm! 0-1
